Since 1930, Scouting America has helped children ages 5-11 grow with the Cub Scouts. It is a year-round family program designed for boys and girls who are in kindergarten through fifth grade. Parents, leaders, and organizations work together to achieve the purposes of Cub Scouting. The mission of Scouting America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
Cub Scout Pack 48 is based in Canyon Country, CA (mainly covering 91387 & 91351). However, all are welcome from Santa Clarita and the San Fernando Valley. We are part of the Bill Hart District of the Western Los Angeles County Council of Scouting America. We have multiple dens with over 20 enthusiastic scouts. Dens are set by grade level and include Lions, Tigers, Wolves, Bears, Webelos and Arrow of Light. We are a family oriented pack supporting young boys and girls through their scouting journey with skills and lessons that will go with them into adulthood. Siblings are welcome at events and meetings. We are even developing a program for the siblings who are not quite old enough yet for Cub Scouts called Dragon Scouts.
We have multiple dens of scouts with boys and girls, grades kindergarten through 5th grade. All dens are led by parent volunteers. Each den usually meets once a week to work on requirements for that rank. These adventures all have a theme: science, faith, community service, art, math, nature, and conservation. All the adventures include interactive activities that make learning fun. If time permits, we play a game just for fun. We all take turns bringing snacks for the meeting's end. (Snack time is everyone's favorite)
We have one Pack meeting a month, and each den usually meets once a week to work on our adventures. There are also regular activities throughout the year such as hiking, camping, community service and fun get togethers! Last August we went fishing at New Port Beach led by one of our parents. Depending on the adventure, we may meet in person, outdoors at a local park, or on a hike, and sometimes even at a den leader's house. However, the majority of the weekly meetings are at the Sulphur Springs Elementary Multi Purpose Room (MPR). We hope you can join us at an upcoming event or meeting. Please review our pack calendar dates and time for our next events.
We would love for you and your prospective cub scout to visit us for a meeting or two and join in activities! Our leadership team is available to answer any questions and help you through the process. Please reach out via our email which will be provided below to get meeting information and so that our den leaders can make sure there are enough supplies for all the cub scouts.
We have lots of fun adventures with our pack. Please enjoy some of our favorite moments over the years. Parents and leaders will update pictures as often as they can.
